The main differences you are going to see is performance, So 2.4GHZ is made for people that are going to be further away from the router such as outside of their house, or in their room. This connection is also slower than the 5GHZ as well. So it’s really great for distance but it pumps out less MB to your device. Most of the time laptops use this connection.
Now with 5GHZ its great for mobile devices such as your phone, tablet, etc. And you can get more internet speeds than the 2.4GHZ, however if you want to go outside with your device, and go in your room it may not reach. It has a short connection range.
Almost all routers have 2 connection choices now, and that is 2.4 and 5GHZ so you can choose what you want to connect to..
