Apple Voted ‘World’s Most Admired Company’ for 11th Consecutive Year

Apple has landed the top spot in Fortune’s annual list of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” for the 11th year in a row.
The Cupertino tech giant ranked first in basically category that was available, which included innovation, social responsibility, financial soundness, use of corporate assets, quality of products and services, and global competitiveness, Forbes noted on its dedicated page for the firm.
Other major firms rounded out the top spots, including two from the technology world. The top 5 included retail giant Amazon, Google partner firm Alphabet, Warren Buffett-owned holding company Berkshire Hathaway, and coffee franchise Starbucks — in that order.
Fortune’s rankings were determined based on the opinion of over 3,900 securities analysts, executives, directions, and other market experts. Those experts selected the top 10 companies that they admired most.
The business publication picks its top list from a group of about 1,500 candidates, which includes the 1,000 biggest U.S. corporations based on revenue and 500 non-U.S. companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database with revenues of $10 billion or more.
That list is then whittled down to the highest-revenue companies in each industry, Fortune added. That’s about 680 total candidate firms in all. The publication notes that the executives who voted work at the companies included about in that total.
The complete list of most admired companies contains about 50 firms form a variety of industries, including Coca-Cola at 18th place and McDonald’s at 37th. Other major tech firms on the list include Microsoft in 7th place, and Facebook in 12th.
Other notable additions and changes to the list include GE, which dropped from 7th place to 30th overall. Clothing brand Adidas and aerospace and defense contractor Lockheed Martin also made it onto the list of top 50 companies for the first time ever.
Apple’s prowess as a company has it ranked third in Fortune 500, and ninth in Fortune’s Global 500.
The company has also achieved sixth in Thomson Reuters’ first published list of the Top 100 Global Technology Leaders — Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, IBM and Alphabet ranked one through five on that list.
