macOS Monterey is full of surprises. As developers and beta users dive into Apple’s upcoming desktop operating system, they are discovering a handful of exciting new features such as this gem in AirPlay.

At WWDC 2021, Apple confirmed the expansion of AirPlay to the Mac, but what the Cupertino company didn’t mention was that this screencasting also works with Apple Fitness+.

With this new AirPlay feature, Apple Fitness+ users can start a workout on their iPhone or iPad and then wirelessly stream the audio and video to a supporting Mac.

This new feature allows users to view their exercise on a larger screen without connecting to an Apple TV.

While users can follow their workout on a Mac, they cannot see their metrics such as a heart rate or calories burned on the computer.

Which Macs Are Supported?

AirPlay to Mac is supported on the following Mac models running macOS Monterey:

  1. MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
  2. MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  3. iMac (2019 and later)
  4. iMac Pro (2017)
  5. Mac mini (2020 and later)
  6. Mac Pro (2019)
