The internet is abuzz with talk of Apple’s upcoming media event. March 21st should mark the release of the new iPhone SE, which will be Apple’s first return to the 4-inch form factor since the iPhone 5s. The March 21st event will also reportedly see the introduction of a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, as well as a host of new Apple Watch bands. Of course there is a contingent of Apple fans that have been holding out for a 4-inch phone since the iPhone 5s, but although the March 21st event is an exciting one, more people are excited about the new iPhone that will be coming in September – the iPhone 7.

Several new reports have hit the web speculating on the size and specifications of the iPhone 7. According to a recent report by Japanese blog Mac Otakara, the iPhone 7 will add stereo speakers, and, as per previous rumors, will ditch the headphone jack in favor of the (possibly thinner) Lightning port. In ditching the headphone jack, however, the iPhone is free to lose a bit of thickness – the report states that the iPhone 7 will be 1mm thinner than the iPhone 6s, measuring a total of 6.1mm in thickness.

In addition to slimming the body of the phone down a bit, the iPhone 7’s camera will also reportedly sit flush with the body, eliminating the so-called “camera bump” that many users have complained about.

On the topic of the iPhone 7’s camera, a recent report by Forbes re-iterates a prediction made by the foremost Apple analyst on the planet, Ming-Chi Kuo, that one model of the iPhone 7 will contain a new, ground-breaking camera. Kuo claimed back in January that three different models of the iPhone 7 will be introduced this September – the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, and an additional 5.5-inch model with the new camera, already being called the iPhone 7 Pro.

According to Kuo, the iPhone 7 Pro will feature a dual-lens camera, which can produce true optical zoom with no moving parts. In a video put together by CNET, a dual camera system displayed incredible clarity in a zoomed-in photo when compared to the same photo taken by a single lens iPhone 6s. The video also demonstrated some impressive image stabilization achieved by the dual-lens system. The video stated that “we can expect to see this technology in actual smartphones available to buy sometime this year” – perhaps a reference to the iPhone 7 Pro.

If all the rumors remain true, this will mark the first ever year that Apple releases four different iPhone models in a 12-month span. Hopefully for Apple, the diversity in their selection of iPhones will boost lagging sales going into 2017.
