The iPhone 7 is at the forefront of any Apple fan’s mind, whether the excitement of a dual-camera module is giving them high-hopes for the future of photography, or the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack causing anxiety induced sleepless nights. And in the midst of all of the iPhone 7 angst, comes news from Apple’s Far East supply chain regarding production difficulties.

Source Nikkei suggests that faulty components will hinder Apple from producing enough product supply for the iPhone 7’s initial rollout.

According to analysts at Yuanta Investment Consulting, forecasts for iPhone production have dropped significantly from 120 million to 114 million, which includes both older models as well as iPhone 7 units. Yuanta suggests production will slow due to defects in the iPhone 7’s waterproof speaker component as well as the dual-camera module, issues that currently have yet to be resolved.

Improved waterproofing techniques are expected to be a key selling point of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, a welcome addition indeed. Adding fuel to the fire regarding the iPhone 7’s waterproof capabilities, include the all-but-confirmed lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack and the rumored haptic-feedback home button – both of which would help inhibit water from leaking into the iPhone 7’s chassis.

Demand for the iPhone 7 is expected to be lower than previous iterations of the world-renown device, however waterproof capabilities might be more than enough reason to give prospective upgraders the itch to buy. We’ll find out for sure later next month, when the iPhone 7 finally launches in September, 2016.

Will advancements in the iPhone’s waterproofing capability give you reason to upgrade?
