Learn How to Send 300% Larger Emojis in iOS 10

Emoji fans, rejoice! iOS 10 has an awesome new feature that’s geared specifically towards you! “So what’s all the fuss about?” you ask. Well, with the impending launch of iOS 10, you’ll soon be able to send your contacts emoticons that are 300% larger than the standard, albeit continually evolving library, of emojis that we’ve grown so accustomed to over the years.

Apple revealed this to us on stage at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote back in June. And while the feature is inherently awesome, there are unfortunately a few exceptions to the rule that were left out of Apple’s original introduction of the feature.

Yes, you can send 3 times larger emojis in iOS 10 — that’s neither a question, limitation, nor aspect of imminent concern here. The limitation, rather, lies in how the emojis are actually sent — in the respect that the method in which they’re done so results in their apparent size disparity.

You can still easily access the emoji library by navigating to the Keyboard in an open app > and then selecting the Globe icon from the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. However, you should also pay attention to the following rules, which will ensure your experience sending emojis in iOS 10 is a good one. For starters, when between one and three (1 and 3) emojis are added to a message, with no other text accompanying them, they’ll be dispatched in the promised 300% larger size.

Additionally, to spice up your experience, all the more, you can also try adding one of the many bubble effects built into the forthcoming iOS 10 update to your message — such as “slam,” “loud,” “gentle,” or “invisible ink,” which can be accessed and added by simply pressing and holding down for a few seconds on the blue ‘Send’ arrow next to your typed message. This will add a cool emotional effect to your conversations, giving your reader an idea about how serious or playful you’re trying to be.

It should also be noted, however, that sending any more than 3 emojis in the same message — (any number greater then 3) — will result in them all being automatically scaled back down to the original size. Such will also be the case, unfortunately, when emojis are sent in addition to other text. For instance, any emojis sent in addition to standard text will automatically be scaled down to the standard size as well.

In addition to the touted 300% larger size, iOS 10 includes a plethora of emoji enhancing goodness baked right in — including, among other things, the ability to replace qualifying words with emojis in text messages.
