With the launch of Apple’s ‘iPhone 7’ drawing closer and closer by the day, there’s honestly not much about the forthcoming device we don’t already know yet.. As a matter of fact, one of the only things we’ve still yet to catch wind of is when exactly the Cupertino-company’s flagship will be touching down.

Most reports to that effect have so far pinned down a late-September launch — albeit the majority of those reports are largely taking into consideration Apple’s history of mid fall product launches.

However, just yesterday afternoon, we happened to receive word from notorious Apple leaker Evan Blass — also know as @evleaks on Twitter — that Apple would be gearing up to commence preorders for the ‘iPhone 7’ on September 9th.

If indeed this rumor is true, that would mean Apple’s launch event might be scheduled for the Tuesday or Wednesday (September 6th or 7th) prior. This assumption, of course, is grounded on the premise that Apple has traditionally opened up preorders for new devices the Friday following their launch.

Strangely enough, the same Evan Blass, in a Twitter post later last week, claimed that Apple would also be launching its ‘iPhone 7’ at retail on or about the 12th of September. However, as he noted most recently, pre-orders for the device will begin online at an earlier time.

Supported by no formal attribution, Blass’ tweet reads: “Confirmed: Pre-orders start on the 9th. You can extrapolate the launch event date from there.”

Not only is the September 9th date believable, based on Apple’s past launch trends, but Blass, himself, is a notoriously accurate leaker of all information Apple — so his word is perhaps the closest thing to legitimacy that we have — other than an actual announcement from Apple.

To add fuel to the fire of Blass’ leak, if you’ll recall, back in 2015 Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 6s on September 9th — prior to opening preorders for the device on September 12th, and then shipping the first round of units out to customers a week later.

So, all that considered, it doesn’t seem too unlikely that Blass is far off. We’ve yet to receive a confirmation from Apple, of course, but that will likely come in the weeks ahead. And, of course, we’ll keep you posted when we find out!

Are you getting excited for the ‘iPhone 7’? Let us know in the comments!
